How do I Block the "Black Video" that shows up in my comment box?

I have a few people that come to my page and everytime they come they post a comment with the BLACK Video..is that video a virus..
I cant stand this..
I dont want to delete them but if this video shows again..Im going to delete them..
Someone has said it was virus..
if it is How do I get rid of it?
I dont want anyone bringing any kind of virus to my page.
I'm sorry that these people have it on their page but it dont make it right to bring to someone else's page..
Does anyone know what this Black Video is? I have never opened it but I dont want it on my page..period.
Is there a code for me to put somewhere on my page to block this?

if by black video, u mean the defacing thing (ur browser gets frozen and u have to restart) then go to search and write "defacer" and "defacing" all the answers are there.... if that is not twhat u meant, please explain and if possible post a screenshot of what that black video mean

use firefox also....

in the meantime, change ur setting, only allow ur contscts to post replies, and of course, block the people that posted the "black videos"... if they are your contacts u have to delete them from it first

do not go to their sites.... do this

to delete a contact

Cyn what do you mean by Black Video, i am at a loss on that one.
Do you mean they add the video to their comment.
You can block html in your guestbook but i am not sure if it will work with videos.
If its a contact i would very nicely request that they do not add the video into the guestbook.
go to view all comments - then you should be able to delete the entry

block html and block the people that posted the stuff, and set everything for ur contacts that way only ur contacts (check u trust them all) can access to your posts

I see no "black" video on your page. Have you deleted it? Does it look like this http://canopusarchives.multiply.com/video/item/1/Dune_-_The_Alternative_Opening_That_Never_Happened ? If so then whoever posted it selected to show no cover image on it or the first images of the video which is where the cover image comes from were black and fade into the video. If you have an anti virus program on your PC, which you should have, then if the video were a virus (which is very unlikely) it would be blocked and you alerted as soon as you tried to play it.

You only pick it up if you post a comment. The thing to do if you do is to go to the full comments page and re-post(sometimes twice). Then you may find you carry it with you for a while(I think it lodges for 2 hits in your copy/paste or something). If I am visiting several pages with a similar greeting I have the greeting(which may have HTML for a video etc) on a TXT thing on my PC desktop - for refreshing my copy/paste. Other than that one page will still infect the next visiter(perhaps only if they have HTML in their comment) If it were on my page I would delete ALL infected comments(and if it persisted contact Multipit.

Delete any annoying comment and you can turn off html in your guestbook by customize/edit guestbook. Block that user.

Sounds like someone is a little too "free" with using codes for comments. Sometimes they post a code with errors in it so it may not be intentional. Just delete the comment, and either ask the user to stop, or just block them if you don't know them.

yep I think Im going to start blocking because I have asked on several occasions for these 3 people not to post that video on my page but everytime it keeps coming back with that same black video..so I think Im going to have to block them..I hate too but I got to do what I got to do.

The user is innocent by the way dantcer and will lose the ad-sp@m video in about two moves. Otherwise we would all be blocked! I think it's dieing out now though(about a month ago it was a real drag)

Sounds like it's not actually a black video, but one that is showing black to you and you can't see it. Your browser or computer may be blocking the view of it or you need some updates. Without a link to it, we can't see it to tell though.

Blocking someone that won't comply with a simple request isn't bullying. It's just protecting one's own site. I've had to do it myself. People who are blocked aren't notified. They just can't post on your site if they abuse the privilege. But if you open your GB to everyone, and/or allow html, then you are setting yourself up to get some of this.

If you have a contact doing it elsewhere on your site, write an adamant blog about your wishes.

i don't know where it comes from, but i noticed a few times when i tried to leave a glitter graphic on someone's page a code came up that was not even related to the site the graphic came from. i had to erase (backspace) the code and copy and paste the graphic code all over again. now, i was watching for that. it sounds like whoever put the vid on your gb was just pasting and moving on without double-checking what they put on there. you might want to send them a PM about it so they can pay more attention to what they are doing.

If you use adblock plus it will add additional html code sometimes. Some people have html turned off in their guestbooks. Good rule of thumb is to host your own images, and then embed them yourself. You can also do this with videos. Then you can't get bad code that way.

This happened to me awhile back.....except it was three different contacts that posted a comment and each ended up with the same video coming up, it was completely unintentional. I deleted each of the comments and it seemed to resolve itself (don't know how, but I didn't have the problem again).

Embedded codes have to track back to their source to be seen. You can actually have a code for what you think is one thing, and another actually show up instead. The problem is then at the source. Which is where it is stored on a server and how it is linked (or not). Some sites just don't put up the proper code.

Go to your guest book - click "view all".
There will be an option to delete on each comment.

Delete it there. You can go to customize/edit guestbook and turn off html and no one can paste them there again.

It's not a black video but a video that actually does play. It just has a black "still" screen til you play it.

Okay....dantcer is right, it is just a black screen but if you press 'play' it will......ironically, I believe this is the SAME video that was getting mis-posted in my gb when it happened to me.

I f you don't wish to disable your guestbooks html,
I recommend using firefox http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/
and the add on scriptblocker

There seems to be a wee more than just video here. Even the video posted in this thread will lock the screen in passing when using a scroll wheel mouse when it gets screen focus. Not the side scrollbar, though.

Yes, there's extra code. If you click on it to play, and then go paste somewhere, JUST by clicking on it, it copies the code.

I suspect this video is being spread around by the c/p method. After all, you copy it just by playing the video and you don't even know it.

Ok, I've reported the video and the code to CS. Not sure if it's something they will want to address but again, disable html in the guestbook. If it's contacts and they do it elsewhere on your site, you may need to have a discussion with them.

More and more people are now complaining about this rouge video code. Some are saying they can't post any embed codes EXCEPT this . Bryon, when you get back today/tonight perhaps you can address this again.

(FROM ANOTHER GROUP and I think she means html code, not css)

....... every time I try putting something in using a CSS code, it comes up always with some guy talking in a car. I don't understand that at all. I tried an egg that opens on a date, a count down calendar and and also a St. Patty's day picture. None worked.

No they have codes that don't play well here sometimes or adverts that they hide on your pages. They also must connect to the other site to display here. Imagine a gb with ten of those from ten different places. You have to load the Multiply page AND those ten other sites to view the page.

Good reason to disable html in a gb.

This video is popping up weather I post in html or not. It's just always there for all that I want to put in. I even check the css first, but after it goes over it changes on it's own. I find that really weird. What I did do was did a copy of something that someone else puts in, glad they can, and then I post it that way.

You're welcome. There was no good answer, but at least there was one. It's up to users to STOP spreading these third party codes that include those advertising graphics. (grrrrrrrrr) Using those are like kissing strangers. Sooner or later you are going to get sick.

I AGREE Dantcer..eventually it will mess up your page altogether..This day one on not recieving html and few people were a bit surprise as they wrote me personal messages but i told them in a nice way..why and they were cool with it and I told them in return I will not be posting anymore html on their pages..as I dont want them having the same problems as me..Thanks again for the information!

I do appreciate reading this even if I am not quite clear on it yet. It just recently started with me, so I will have to look into deleting a source I guess.

You don't need to remove a contact. You can link to that post for your contacts to read. The quicker the word gets out, the quicker this will stop. No one is doing it on purpose.

You should see a delete link for any content you posted. Just open the video post. Make sure you have enabled advanced posting by going to Settings, Posting Options.

Hi all,

I have found a solution for this "Black Video"

First of all let me tell you its not a virus!!

Whenever you copy any text.. Do you know where it stores on your computer?

In windows there is a file called "clipbrd.exe" which holds/stores whatever text you copied from web or glitter graphics or any other html codes.

Whenever someone copied some html code from glitter graphics somehow that black video's code copied in this clip board (clipbrd.exe) instade of your graphic codes and whenever you post this code on someones page.. you think you post a graphic on friends page but actually you post black video on the page and scare you friend as a virus.. lol

Solution 1.

For Windows Xp users they can do following things.
click on start => Run => type "Clipbrd.exe" without quotes
Press Enter..
Clipboard will open and you can see that black video's code instead of your glitter graphics code.
You can delete that code by pressing delete button or click on X (cross) under security tab.
And you can copy the html code again and paste on your friends page!

For Vista users..
Unfortunetly bydefault they dont have that file in their system but for them I have uploaded the clipbrd.exe on the web and you can download that file from the following link.

Solution 2.

Simply copy your html code 2 times i.e. when you copy 1st time any html code it will copy as a black video but 2nd time when you copy your html code it overwrites your code on the black video's code. So you post your graphics only not the black video.

I have seen and tested this on the clipboard.

If you uploaded these to your video section, I seem to be able to see those just fine. Where are the 3 videos you say are titles but no videos? Give me a link to each video. Do you see a delete link under them? If so, just delete them.
