Group's posts with tag: getting started
 It's another recurring question, so a few tips:
- To enable the download link for the videos you upload you have to activate Advanced Posting in your settings page:
- The post author (owner) should always see the download link, the same way it works with audio files in the Music section.
- If the file is in the FLV (Flash Video) or imported from YouTube.com or any other 3rd party service that uses the FLV file format there will be no download link regardless of the options/settings;
- Adult stuff is restricted to the (few) remaining adult groups (no one can create a new adult group anymore) and videos don't have a download link either;
- You can also use the EMBED code found in the share (look for the link just below the post, to the right) page to add the video anywhere you want without allowing users to download the original video, the same way you can embed videos from other sites.

 This is a common recurrent question that often appears in the Questions section, so here is a quick FAQ about it. This reflects my personal opinion and knowledge.
Multiply does not allow comments from non-Multiply members as probably you know by now. It's this way to prevent abuse (spamming, trolling, etc) and because Multiply is also a social network service, not only a blog tool. But you can also share your posts with non-Multiply members easily, from simpler to more complicated:
- Share your posts by email: Multiply will keep a list of contacts you've invited and you can send your posts to them by email after you publish a new item. Although they won't be able to reply on your page, they will have full access to your content (using the personal link on the email), even for private posts (think secure) and they will be able to reply to you by email. (By the way, you can do this with old posts using the share link on your already-published posts).
- Cross-posting: you can enable cross-posting with 3 services as of now: LiveJournal, Typepad and Blogger. It means that your posts to Multiply will also be (automatically) posted to these services (and vice-versa). These services may offer "anonymous comments", and then you may have the best of two worlds: private comments on Multiply and public comments on Blogger, for instance. For more info:
- Add a chatbox/shout-out box: there are 3rd party services you can use, like the meebo.com widget. The bad thing about this is that you will have to add it to every post, but the good thing is that it will work with any post, not only blog ones. Before you ask, you can only use Flash or simple HTML widgets. JavaScript/iframe are forbidden due to security reasons, so it means that the popular cbox.ws won't work.

You can now access the Group Search at User Support from any page, without having to go to the homepage welcome area! (You can still use that one too) Just look at the top of any page next to the title of the Group! So please search first before posting your question.
If you look down the blogs list of titles on the homepage and also the notes list, you may also find the information you are looking for.
Be sure when you are reading any thread to read all of the replies. Everything is done to ensure that the correct information is in the replies. If your question is on the topic of a thread already here, you may add your question to that thread.
If you can't find what you are looking for, please post your question in Notes and title your post with the subject of your question.
Thanks!
POST Moderation In Groups - What Is It And WHY
You go to POST in this group, (any group) and you suddenly notice a little note near the submit button that says something like "This post will be subject to Moderation, etc). You may NOT notice it.
But then you hit submit and suddenly you see that your post is only a DRAFT. And you will see another more obvious note that your post is held for moderation, etc.
NEW GROUPS (This one is not) and/or NEW MEMBERS of any group are initially subject to this new SPAM safeguard. They will see this sometimes with their first post to a new group or group they have just joined. It's called MODERATION even though the post has the Draft Designation.
Multiply installed this spam filter and only Multiply has access to it. NO admin has access to your post or the controls of this filter. It must clear through Multiply. So please don't think that any admin of any group is holding your post! They aren't! The filter is working great! Multiply just wants to review your first group post to ensure you aren't one of those spammers. The Moderation message states that it can take up to 24 hours. Usually it clears very quickly though. So please be patient and don't DELETE this post! It's the one that gets you past the spam filter and you should not see it again. Deleting the post means you have to be screened again.
Again, NO admin in any group is moderating or holding your post so they cannot release it.
As new members to this group, everyone will probably be subjected to this slight annoyance. But please let it clear so you won't see it again! If you have any problem with a post clearing within that time frame, please notify CS. Admins can't see your moderated post to report it.
All group admins are welcome to link to this post.
 The answer will depend on what kind of post it is. If it's a blog post, in the Blog page: http:// Your_Username.multiply.com/journal If it's a photo album, in the Photos page: http:// Your_Username.multiply.com/photos If it's a video, in the Video page: http:// Your_Username.multiply.com/video If it's a music playlist, in the Music page: http:// Your_Username.multiply.com/music If it's a link, in the Links page: http:// Your_Username.multiply.com/links If it's an event, in the Calendar page: http:// Your_Username.multiply.com/calendar If it's a review, in the Reviews page: http:// Your_Username.multiply.com/reviews Replace Your_Username with your actual Multiply username (userID) or simply use the navigation bar on your page. The same goes for drafts in groups: look for the section of the kind of post you saved as draft and you will find it. When you do, you can either delete the post or edit and then publish. PS: draft posts are always private, what means that no one but the author will be able to see it until it's published. 1. TITLING YOUR POSTPlease do NOT title your Questions with "HELP" or "QUESTION" or any other vague title like that. Everyone needs help or has a question. You must title your Question with the SUBJECT of your Questions. There's been a rash of these posts titled like this, not just at this group but the other Help Groups as well. And many are ignoring those posts. No subject generates no interest to help.The options the admins have for these mistitled posts are to ask in the thread AND send a PM to you to retitle AND INCLUDING the link for you to do so. This is TOO much work for admins to do! So the other option is to delete the question altogether including any replies (which you may or may not have seen yet). Vague titles not only get ignored and/or some refuse to reply that actually have the answer, but the post becomes TOTALLY useless to everyone else that needs or searches for the answer. Help groups are to help everyone, and not as a "one on one" only.So TITLE your question with the subject, for instance - not just "music" but "can't upload music". Just don't post your entire long question in the title. I've seen that too. 2. SEARCHThere is rarely a question that hasn't already been answered. There is a Search feature on the HOMEPAGE of this group. Use that first. Yes, you will probably get a lot of search hits but the answer is there! And usually within the first five or so hits on that page. Search using phrases, not just a single word. Refine your search. For instance, not just "music" but "can't upload music". Admins and other users use the same tools you use to find the links to threads for you to read. So if we can do it and paste the link to it, you can just as easily find it too. I do suggest looking down the blog list first (currently FAQ's are listed there and are all showing on the homepage) You can also use the tag boxes on the homepage that will take you to the different blog items, depending on the tag/subject of the FAQ.
There will be questions of course, or questions that may or may not apply to a previous post. We welcome those questions. But all members can see a question and know right off the bat if they've seen it here before (asked over and over). So all we are asking is that you search first. If your question is different or new or you honestly can't find the right answer, then post your question in notes and we'll be glad to help.
Remember... Look at the blog titles on the homepage first. Use the tag boxes on the homepage here for them if you need to. Then use the search feature on the homepage here. Because this is exactly what everyone else does to answer your question.
(Another quick search is to click on blog or notes in the nav bar of the homepage here, and you will see all the titles in table view) NOTE: The "SEARCH" at the very top of the page will also find questions and answers in all the groups, and not just this one. If you aren't sure to which group your question may apply, try that feature. Thanks for your cooperation, and remember.. this applies to all of the HELP groups in the right rail as well ------------------------------------------------------------->
 You already know how to add images to your Blog entries (tutorials can be found here or here). It's simple and easy because there is a button for this (among other things) while you compose or edit a blog entry. You can even use it to create the HTML code to place somewhere else that does not have the powerful editing tools: just click on 'Edit HTML' to copy the code. But if you want to do it quickly in a reply or host your own set of smileys to add to your comments in Guestbooks or in your Welcome Message? Basically, you have to use this HTML command: <img src="Image_URL">where Image_URL is the address of the image on the Internet (it cannot be in your computer, it must be hosted online so others can see it). For instance, the blog icon above has this URL: http://images.multiply.com/multiply/icons/clean/24x24/journal.pngyou can then use this command to display it anywhere you want: <img src="http://images.multiply.com/multiply/icons/clean/24x24/journal.png">that will show this: You can even host your images here on Multiply in a private photo album (so no one else can see them) and easily get the code to embed them elsewhere. Here are some nice tutorials related to this subject that can be found in the New to Multiply group where you can find more details: http://multiplynewbie.multiply.com/journal/item/46/Hot-linking_images_inside_Multiplyhttp://multiplynewbie.multiply.com/journal/item/47/Hot-linking_inside_Multiply_-_Part_2http://multiplynewbie.multiply.com/journal/item/17/Pictures_in_the_text In the comments of the first one, there is even a tip about how to add an album artwork to your playlist (Music post) so it will display in the Type column if your Music page is set to Table View. Another tip: when using code from third party sites, be aware that they may include advertising or even malware with the image code. To avoid this, copy the code from their sites, paste it in a text editor and use only the part of the code that has the IMG tag. For example, this is a code from a known image hosting site: <a href=http://www.ZangyGraphics.com/picture.php?c=hi&n=271><img src=http://zangygraphics.com/hi/test2.gif border=0></a><br><a href="http://zangygraphics.com/imgs/logo.php"><img src="http://zangygraphics.com/imgs/zangylogo.jpg" border="0"></a>
But the only part you really need to display the image is the one in bold : <img src=http://zangygraphics.com/hi/test2.gif border=0>
PS: If it seems that you cannot add an image to a friend's Guestbook (or the other way around: if you want to prevent images in your Guestbook), probably you want to take a look at the Guestbook FAQ entry. If you have any questions about this or other topics, please title accordingly and post >>> HERE

 JavaScript (the have the script tag in the code) and iframe codes aren't allowed in Multiply for security reasons. Any other code that is simple HTML or Flash, like the ones that use the EMBED or OBJECT command, should work fine. Usually the site give you options for the code: look for the one in simple HTML (no script tags) or one that uses Flash. Tip: many widgets that use JavaScript code also have a non-JavaScript code attached for compatibility reasons, like the counter from sitemeter.com. To use it on Multiply simply copy the code between the noscript tags. For example, if they give you this code: <!-- Site Meter --> <script type="text/javascript" src=" >http://s24.sitemeter.com/js/counter.js?site=YourUsername"></script> <noscript> <a href="http://s24.sitemeter.com/stats.asp?site=YourUsername" target="_top"> <img src="http://s24.sitemeter.com/meter.asp?site=YourUsername" alt="Site Meter" border="0"/></a> </noscript><!-- Copyright (c)2006 Site Meter --> Copy this part and use it in your site: <a href="http://s24.sitemeter.com/stats.asp?site=YourUsername" target="_top"> <img src="http://s24.sitemeter.com/meter.asp?site=YourUsername" alt="Site Meter" border="0"/></a>
PS: JavaScript isn't the same as Java. Java widgets should work too, as they usually use the EMBED/OBJECT tag. As a side note, sometimes when you try to copy and paste excerpts from other web pages to yours, usually blog entries, you may get the message that 'JavaScrit/CSS isn't allowed', and you can save your post. It happens because some of the page code was also copied and also pasted with the text. To avoid this, first paste the excerpt in a plain-text editor, like Notepad on Win or Smultron on a Mac, and then copy it again and paste on your page. You will get only the text and should be able to save your entry. Update1: EMBED codes that have allowscriptaccess won't work anymore (they will be disabled when added to Multiply pages) due to security reasons too. Quote from a Multiply staff member: We disabled script access across the board for all embedded flash applications because it poses a significant security risk. Embedded flash players, with allowscriptaccess set to true could potentially execute arbitrary javascript on the page and send other users' personal information to a third party. Google is a search engine that indexes any and every page/site that is publicly available, and Multiply is no exception. Every public page on Multiply -- the ones posted for 'Everyone' or that can be accessed by any person even if not logged in to a Multiply account -- will be indexed by Google and will appear in the search results if relevant. Multiply takes advantage of this in its own Search feature (the one in the top navigation bar): the results are retrieved by Google, who also 'sponsors' the search, generating revenue for Multiply. It's simpler, cheaper and faster than having it's own search engine and also helps Multiply earn some money. And you can rest calm knowing that only your public posts will appear in the results. But Google takes some times to index new pages, so if you publish a new post today, wait a couple of days so it will appear in the search results (both here and on the 'generic' Google page). In the mean time, using tags is a great way to organize and easily retrieve your posts. If you have any questions about this or other topics, please title accordingly and post >>> HERE

 The Inbox (previously called Message Board or My Multiply) works like this (if you've set Sort By to 'Latest Reply' in its Preferences): - if you visit a post and later a new comment (reply) is added to it, the post will be moved to the top of the list (most recent ones), so you get notified that it has a new reply. It will continue to be this way as long as you visit the post to see the updates. - if you don't visit the post, then the entry in your Inbox won't 'go up' in the list, and will eventually go away from the the first page. But if you later visit the post, new replies added to it will again move the entry in your Inbox to the top. Of course, you can enable Show "Subscribe," "Pin," and "Remove" links for each item in the Inbox preferences: - Subscribe enables/disables email notifications for that post. It's also useful when you enabled the notification when you replied to a post (i.e. marked the 'Forward replies to your_email' chec kbox); - Pin puts the entry at the top of your Message Board for as long as you want; - Remove deletes the entry from your Message Board (and further updates to it too, of course). It does not delete the post itself, only the entry in your Message Board. If you removed an entry by mistake or are not getting notifications for a certain thread anymore for an unknown reason, try adding a new reply to the thread yourself and it should be back in your Inbox once more. You can view messages you are currently subscribed to using this page, where you can unsubscribe if you want: http://multiply.com/mail/subscribedAs a side note, you can control you automatic email alerts in this page: http://multiply.com/setup/alertsThere are many other options in the preferences so you can configure your Inbox like you want. Try the many views to find the one that you like most. Also, above the entries, you can see a 'proximity-bar': so you can choose from 'how distant' in your Network the entries in your Message Board will come from. You can select only posts from your contacts, for example, or enable and disable posts from groups as well. Lastly, you can click on Custom to create a personalized filter to display only selected posts, useful if you want to find a post from a friend, for instance, or retrieve your Personal Messages. The Inbox is the most important place on Multiply, and it's unique. Take some time to configure it to your needs and it will help you to find the posts you want and also make things much easier and faster to keep updated with new posts. Have fun. If you are experiencing issues in your Inbox, please take a look at this post: http://usersupport.multiply.com/journal/item/17/Message_Board_IssuesUpdate1: After the recent changes, the Message Board is now called Inbox, and there is a set of useful pre-defined custom filters to retrieve your Personal Messages and Subscribed threads. There are three ways of doing it: 1) Go to the user’s home page. You’ll see a link in the right rail under his/her headshot that says: “Block [user]”. That’s easy, but you will show up in the viewing history for his/her page, and maybe you prefer not to, so 2) Move your mouse-cursor across the user’s headshot (don’t click) wherever you see it, e.g. in your viewing history. Now a mini-profile should pop up in which there are some links; one of them is “Block [user]”. Click there. 3) If you know her/his username, put this in yout browser location bar (where you type the http://...) and then press the ENTER key (replace USER_NAME with the actual username you want to block): http://USER_NAME.multiply.com/blockIf the mini-profile doesn’t pop up, it’s probably because you have disabled the feature. Go to “Preferences” above your message board and scroll down until you find a little box named “Hide mini-profile mouseover pop-ups”. Untick the box, click “OK”. Now find the pesterer’s headshot somewhere and do as in 2). Note that you can’t block a contact; you have to remove him/her from your list of contacts first. You do that exactly the same way as described in 2). You may go to your My Network page and to do remove the person from your contact list, or access this page: http://multiply.com/network/remove-contactor even this if your know her/his USER_NAME: http://multiply.com/network/remove/USER_NAMECredits for the text above: ullangoo Update1: Since the last update, now you have to click on a headshot to display the mini-profile. Only the post author/owner can edit/delete the post (admins in groups can delete posts too, but not edit them). You have to open a certain post so you can edit or delete it. All of your blog entries are listed in your Blog page (the analogous works for Reviews, Videos, etc): http://YOUR_USERNAME.multiply.com/journaland each item has an URL with a number, for example: http://YOUR_USERNAME.multiply.com/journal/item/15/Open the entry and you should be able to click on a link called edit or delete just below the post, to the left, so you make the modifications you want in that post or remove it completely. You can also delete replies to your posts as well as delete posts in your Guestbook. If you don't know how to delete the comments in your Guestbook, take a look at this post: http://usersupport.multiply.com/journal/item/131/Guestbook_FAQSometimes when you add an entry to your Links section or save it as a draft you cannot open the entry to delete it. Try adding another entry and publish it, then you should be able to go to your Links page (yourusername.multiply.com/links) and delete the one you want. There is also a post with a tip useful when you want to delete many posts: http://usersupport.multiply.com/journal/item/153/How_to_Delete_Many_Posts_FasterIf you cannot find the edit/delete links in the posts you created, maybe the custom theme you are using removed it or make it invisible using the same color of your background or something else... If you think it's the problem, take a look at this post: http://usersupport.multiply.com/journal/item/140/Using_a_Custom_Theme_Cannot_see_your_contentlinks_Read_thisIf you cannot access the edit/delete link because you added a broken code to the entry, try this: http://usersupport.multiply.com/journal/item/93/Editing_a_post_when_the_edit_link_doesnt_workIf you have any questions about this or other topics, please title accordingly and post >>> HERE

 On many networking sites, the goal seems to be to collect as many contacts as you can, almost like collecting charms for a bracelet. I've even seen one site give away a free ipod to the person who could add the most contacts in a week. But on Multiply, there's a different mentality (encouraged by the staff and supported by many users -- like me). The goal here is to attempt to mirror your real life world online. In other words, your relationships here, the people you hang out with online, should reflect the relationships you have off line. Then, through your network, you can get to know other people in a natural way -- through your contacts: your friends and family. You might also meet people in groups. But again, that's a natural way to meet someone, like joining a club and gradually making friends over time as you attend meetings. So when you're thinking of clicking that link to "Add as Contact" you might want to run a little test first. Imagine that you're not online, but sitting in your living room. You see someone walk down the sidewalk. Do you invite them inside your house to chill in the living room with you, or do you wave and let them go their way? If you know them well enough to let them into your house, then click away. That person would make a great contact. But if you're still at only a wave or a short chat about the weather level with a person, then wait awhile. Don't add them yet. Wait and see if you cross paths again -- if you're "natural" friends. I've seen several people here on Multiply asking how to block contacts. Ironically, this is akin to inviting someone into your house, then calling the police over to lock them up for breaking and entering. My mother always told me not to talk to strangers. A natural second step is not to invite them into your house. Don't invite them into your Multiply "house" either. You don't make friends in the real world in a matter of seconds. Why act that way in the virtual world? Multiply provides avenues to get to know people gradually and naturally. I encourage you to use them. ------------------------------------ Edit: 3 November 2007 -- More thoughts on Adding Contacts on Multiply
isn't the *point* of a social network to meet people? i think that's how a lot of people view adding contacts. but when you add a contact on multiply, you're adding to the number of messages that will show up on your message board. which means keeping up with a whole bunch more people than you probably can comfortably keep up with. and it's more likely that the people you really Do want to keep up with will have their posts drowned out by all the posts by people you only vaguely know.
if you want to connect with people that you don't really know, but you like them so far and want to get to know them better, create a group. you can add bunches of people in there, hang out with them, get to know them, and once you feel like you can trust them (and you want to keep up with them and their posts and you want them to keep up with yours) then you can add them as a contact. (the Y360 refugees group is a great example of this. there's a lot of hanging out and getting to know each other without anyone having to take that trust showing step of making people contacts.)
on other sites, (myspace comes immediately to mind, but there are many others like this as well) don't notify you when activity is taking place within your circle of contacts. so you can add hundreds and hundreds of people as contacts and it doesn't really affect your experience with the site (except that you look popular). however, if you except hundreds and hundreds of people as contacts here on multiply, you'll quickly be so overwhelmed with the posts on your message board that the board will essentially become useless.
multiply doesn't discourage you from hanging out with people and getting to know them. but they try to help you do it naturally either through affinity groups (the groups part of multiply) or through people that you already know and trust (your network).
they take privacy seriously and this is part of it. meeting people virtually is unsafe often because you can't verify that a person is who they say they are or that anything they say is in anyway true. but if you're getting to know someone through a friend, then your friend knows that person and can vouch for them. (yeah, i just saw jack yesterday and he really did break his leg while washing dishes. i signed his cast.) so even though you haven't met the person (jack in this case) you've had that person vouched for by someone you already trust. once you "hang out" online with jack, you might decide to trust him directly and add him as a contact. make sense?
the whole premise behind multiply is that other social networking sites are for putting all of your dirty laundry before the world. but multiply is specifically designed with the understanding that this is a place for you to connect with those you already know and trust. it's for connecting with friends and family.
in fact, here's the blurb from their front page (you can only see it when you're signed out. if you're signed in, then you'll end up at your message page instead.):
Multiply makes it easy to create, share and discuss your blog, photos, videos and music with more of the people you know, and less of the people you don't.
more of the people you know. less of the people you don't.
since you're adding contacts that are people you already know, or people you might have met through your network or a group that you've gotten to know over time, then you already have told multiply (by adding them as a contact) that you trust that person.
- Large pictures may make the column where the Guestbook is in your main page too wide. Either remove the entry or ask the poster to remove the code. Also, you can add this code to your Custom CSS to display a scrollbar when it happens:
#home_guestbook .replybox { overflow:auto; }
or, if you don't want it to display any image at all: #home_guestbook .replybody img { display: none; }
- How to remove/delete messages from your Guestbook:
At your main page, you won't see the links to delete comments or edit your own replies in your Guestbook. To do this, you have to go to the Guestbook page. You can get there using one of these ways: - at your main page, click on the link below your Guestbook " View All NNN Comments"
- use this link: http://Your_Username.multiply.com/guestbook (replace Your User_Name with your actual Multiply username) If you cannot find the delete link for the offending graphic, you can try this: use the delete link from another comment and try to modify it to delete what you want, like this: get the delete link from the previous or next entry (right-click on the link and use 'Copy Link Location' on Firefox or the analogous command in your browser), copy it to your browser's location bar (the one where you type the http://...) and modify it to reflect the entry you want to delete. For instance, the delete link to my 250th entry in my guestbook is something like this: javascript:confirmLink("Are you sure you want to delete this reply?", "/item/delete-reply/lfom:guestbook:1+250?xurl=http%3A%2F%2Flfom.multiply.com%2F&usertoken=manylettershere")So, if I want to delete the next entry, I simply copy it to the my browser's location bar, replace 250 with 251 like this: javascript:confirmLink("Are you sure you want to delete this reply?", "/item/delete-reply/lfom:guestbook:1+251?xurl=http%3A%2F%2Flfom.multiply.com%2F&usertoken=manylettershere")and press the ENTER (or RETURN) key. A confirmation dialog should appear, then click on OK. - Also, you can edit the number of comments displayed at your main page and the access (privacy) level if you click on Customize My Site and then on the Edit link found in the Guestbook box (see the image below).
- You can now completely disable HTML in your Guestbook replies, just edit it in your main page (see the picture below).
 - If you can't see your Guestbook and you didn't hide it using the Hide link while your main page is in 'Customization Mode', probably you've set yout Homepage to 'Linear View'. Return it to 'Boxes View' to see your Guestbook again:
http://multiply.com/setup/pages/home- If you are still experiencing problems about deleting stuff in your Guestbook and you are using Firefox, you can go to its menu and select: View -> Page Style -> No Style (look to a similar option in your browser if you're using another program) to disable CSS in your page so you can use the delete links to remove any offending material. Then you can enable it again.
- Groups normally don't have a Guestbook, but you can display one if you change the Page Layout to Linear instead of Box View for the Home Page. (DEPRECATED: does not work anymore)
- If you try to add HTML code in a comment at someone else's Guestbook that isn't your contact, the HTML will be removed. Of course, the same happens in your Guestbook for people that aren't in your contact list. (DEPRECATED: does not work this way anymore, if you don't want HTML in your Guestbook, disable it completely as explained above)

3. Your answer may already be here! Look in the Blog titles and Notes titles first before posting. 4. No expletives please! This includes intentional misspelling or substituting symbols in what is considered "bad language". Having to delete a message or reply because of language, causes your problem not to be addressed, as it takes too much time to repost and edit it. 5. No "all caps" please, unless you are visually impaired (please let us know so that replies can be in all caps also)6. When addressing a problem that includes another user or site on Multiply other than your own, please do not name names. The problem can be addressed without that information.
7. Be NICE at all times when posting or replying. If it's not nice, just don't say it. 8. MOST important - Please start a new thread in NOTES rather than post your question as a reply to another thread UNLESS it is directly related to the subject of that thread AT the time of the original post. (This is sometimes called "hijacking a thread" when you tack on another question unrelated to the original one)
 IF your question is about an issue you are having NOW, and though it was an issue someone else was having three weeks ago... It won't be noticed as a CURRENT issue if you tag it onto another thread. Post it as a New Question after viewing the replies in the older post for a possible answer. Remember to JOIN to stay updated on some of the latest information regarding Multiply! Multiply is constantly growing and changing for the better, and we want you to have the latest developments and the ability to maneuver easily through all these great changes :)
Feel free to post a link to this group on your personal sites and groups also.
 Please read this in it's entirety!
Since there are so many new members, it's time to update and clarify requests so this group (and other help groups) can continue to run more efficiently. This helps all members and admins when trying to assist others quickly, with as little delay as possible.
Please take the time to review the following:
1. Title posts with the subject of your question (In Notes Only Please). Please don't use the word "Help" or "Question" in your subject line. Be short, but specific so those that can help, will, and as quickly for you as possible.
2. Refrain from nuisance replies (added lol's, etc) that give no additional information. These only cause a thread to continue on and on, long after it's closed. This causes a lot of work for admins and members to have to keep looking at a thread with new, but useless replies.
3. Refrain from continuing to answer a thread that has been asked and answered successfully, and the problem is fixed. This means, you need to read all replies first, to realize this. Once someone returns and replies that the problem is fixed, no further issues need to be addressed on that thread. Also please note the date on posts. Many that are being re-answerd are actually much older posts with no further replies needed.
4. Always come back and reply if you posted a question. Let us know that your question was answered successfully or if you still have a problem. Open threads like that help no one. It's a lot of work to pm each poster, thread by thread, to come back and give us an update. All Q & A's are here to help everyone, and not just the original poster. Thank you's are always appreciated by everyone.
5. Refrain from argumentative or combative replies. They are pointless, unnecessary and will only be deleted. Be KIND in all posts and replies!
6. PLEASE look for your answers before posting. The blog section has tutorials and answers to questions that admins have addressed specifically. The Notes section has most answers already there, so take the time to scroll through these sections. Many current and regular questions are kept on the homepage for you to find at a glance. There are many valuable posts in the Blog sections, so when you have time, please look through there for future reference!
7. Make sure you are in the right group for your question. Always post from the homepage of a group, and not by hitting POST from another page. Groups clarify their purpose on the homepage, with posting instructions. (For instance, this group is not for modification or customization questions.)
9. Please post new questions as a new Thread in Notes. Tacking on or hijacking a thread with a different topic only causes your question to be completely overlooked and go unanswered. We find many of those here. Be as clear as possible with your questions and your replies so we don't have to ask for clarification.
10. If you read this post in it's entirety, you will realize, there is no number 8. Original text by Linda
