The new Music Player for homepages has some great new features! Not only does it have much more "eye" appeal, but it has a playlist dropdown so you can move from file to file easily. So this was a welcome upgrade!!
This new player also does not "auto play". This is a new "much requested" change from the other player, apparently because many users do not wish to have music forced on them on the pages here. (Especially when having more than one page open) Users were already using different "no autoplay" tools to stop them. Now that is not necessary with this new player!! Play only when, if and what you wish to listen to!
NOTE: Please do not start threads debating the pros and cons of "auto play". Though many still wish to have this feature, it is no longer available.
Music Download Links have been removed here at Multiply. This was not unexpected, and due to Multiply being used for sharing of illegal, copyright protected music.
The download links ARE still available for your audio files on your site only. Please do NOT post any more questions at this group, regarding this topic.
When you go to Post.. Music, to upload, there is a statement there that still states the following:
By clicking upload, you certify that these files do not violate Multiply's Terms of Service and that you own all copyrights or have express permission from all copyright owners to upload them.
The Terms still state as follows :
....promotes an illegal or unauthorized copy of another person's copyrighted work, such as providing pirated computer programs or links to them, providing information to circumvent manufacturer-installed copy-protect devices, or providing pirated music or links to pirated music files;
PLEASE CONTINUE TO ABIDE BY THE TERMS
Since everyone is starting thread after thread about this subject, here is some no-brainer information on this.
It appears that the Music Search function has been (at this time) disabled. It certainly was apparent that people were using Multiply to post copyright protected music, to SHARE it. This goes against the TERMS OF SERVICE (not to mention the law). Others are here ONLY to leech this music from those that have posted it up, and not using Multiply for anything else. That was not what Multiply was or is intended to be used for. So any action taken by Multiply to thwart this is understandable.
Please do not post any new threads here regarding this subject as there is no further information from Multiply at this time, other than in reading at Muds, there may be a new music feature coming.
See this thread there (and be sure and read ALL replies as that is where more information is)..

Sometimes, when putting in html coding in your welcome area, titling area of your boxes, or manually inserting an image into a post (calendar or music area for instance)........ Suddenly strange things start to happen! When you click on Customize, your edit buttons are gone (and sometimes the move buttons also) Maybe one area only is affected, or maybe all. Stranger still, you may be looking at a single post that has the "delete" button buried inside the content box and is not clickable! Here are several steps to take to repair these problems yourself, without having to contact Customer Service. I suggest trying these in the order they are listed below but at least one should work in most instances.1. Firefox BrowserInternet Explorer seems to be more forgiving of coding errors, but unfortunately it also prevents you from not only seeing them, but correcting them. Firefox is much less forgiving, and you can see and fix them more readily. Try downloading Firefox browser (free) and then see if you can actually see the bad coding that needs fixing, and your editing functions are there also. If you have errors while using IE, you may not even know they are there, yet the many Firefox or other browser users can see them. Browser preference is your choice of course. But Firefox is an excellent browser to check your site's appearance occasionally and edit when needed.2. URL'S to EDITThere are two url's that are important to remember. Paste either of these in your browser's address line while at your site, and you will be taken to an editing window to remove the offending code. a. Username.multiply.com/edit/content b. Username.multiply.com/edit/title3. "Delete" is buried in a content box. This usually happens when manually adding an image to a music playlist. Your image and playlist is then trash, yet you can't delete it. There may not even be a song in it! This is easy to fix yourself! Upload one song, to the existing playlist that is the problem. Upon completion, it will redirect to a window where you can then edit the image coding that is causing the problem by deleting it entirely. Save & Publish. Then go back, and your delete button should then be visible.These three items fix the majority of "can't edit" problems. No need to wait for Customer Service to repair your page for you once you know the tools to do it yourself. :)

 Some times your connection to Multiply drops for some reason while you are uploading new content (photos, videos, music). Before creating a new post, look at the respective section in your page and look for a Draft post with the files that were already uploaded. Simply edit the post, add the remaining content and publish it. If you have problems uploading Music, try uploading them one at a time, to the same playlist, then publish it. Uploading smaller files (low bitrate) may also help. If you have problems uploading Photos, try using another uploader tool. For instance, if you've used the Java tool, try using the HTML one next time. You have some empty albums (with no pics and/or no name) and want to get rid of them? Simply upload a new photo, move it to the 'ghost' album and then delete it (it will be seen after a pic is added to it in your Photos page, maybe as a draft). Last but not least, you can try using another browser. If you haven't tried yet, use Firefox: it works best with Multiply and is more secure overall. Just a reminder, and for those that don't know this yet, Multiply now only allows members signed in to Multiply to view your player, and hear your homepage music. You will not see or hear either when viewing as "Another User". Homepage music also has to be set to "EVERYONE". :) Music or playlist MUST be MP3's also.

On Multiply, you can not only blog, share photos and videos, but if you've got sound files to share (such as the kids singing Happy Birthday to grandma or maybe your teen's piano recital) you can share that as well. What kinds of music files can I share? You can upload the following types of music files to your Multiply site: mp3, m4a, wma, wav, aac, ogg, aif and au. Please be aware that sharing someone else's copyrighted music is illegal and prohibited on Multiply, per our Terms of Service.

Additional Notes (thanks to lfom): How to add a music player (Multiply built-in Flash player) to your homepage:1) Go to your main page and click on Customize My Site (or go to Settings -> My Site) and click on the Edit link on your Welcome Message box. You may also use the link bellow: http://multiply.com/setup/pages/content2) Click on the check box beside Play music on my homepage and choose a playlist with only MP3 or AAC files. The playlist must be also public (privacy set to 'Everyone'). There is a remind about it if you mouse over the question mark beside the playlist drop-down menu. 3) All set. =) Just know that your music will not autoplay when someone visits your page. (That means it won't just start playing automatically. The visitor has to choose to listen to it.) Some recent changes about music on Multiply:- the built-in music player in the main page (for those who set i up, obviously) will show up only to Multiply member who are logged in. It means that it won't appear to non-member or when you look at your page as an 'anonymous' user. - the download links in the Music posts are only visible to the original poster of the music. So, if you can't see the player when you are not logged in, don't panic, it's not a bug. This may change in the future, but there is no word about when it would. I will update this post if it does. Important Note on Music: Once you have uploaded music, you cannot delete it. You can delete the post the music was uploaded to, but you cannot delete the music itself. You can even edit the post and select or deselect the musics in the playlist, but you cannot delete them the songs from the selection list (that you see while you're in edit mode).If you have any additional questions about music, please post those questions in the notes section of this group.
