 - If you cannot see any image at all (you just see empty spaces) in albums:
- Reset your browser (empty the cache and delete all cookies): http://usersupport.multiply.com/journal/item/56/CLEAN_TempCache_Files_FIRST
- If it happens only in your page and you are using a customized theme, try using a standard theme: http://usersupport.multiply.com/journal/item/140/Using_a_Custom_Theme_Cannot_see_your_contentlinks_Read_this
- If it happens everywhere or it's intermittent, probably you have something installed in your computer or browser that's blocking images, like a firewall, privacy filter or anti-virus. Disable them temporally to find which one is causing problem and then configure it to allow images from multiply.com.
- If you cannot find the album (post) either in your main page or in our Photos page but you can still open it from your Inbox or navigating to it using the prev/next links in your other albums, edit the missing post and edit something minor like its title, then save the post and it should be available again.
- If the images are distorted, rotated or all of them display the same caption after you've uploaded them, probably it's due to some extra info attached to the file by the digital camera or the software you've used to edit them. Open the files again in your computer and save them in JPEG or PNG format stripping all the extra info (EXIF data, thumbnail, etc) and try to upload again.
- If you have the wrong image when you try preview the image after clicking on the thumbnail in your Photo album or you get a message saying that your post was deleted, you have to contact Customer Service (link on the right rail >>>>) and give them all the info you can about the problem, and also add a lin to the album with problems to the message so they can locate it easily.

You already know how to add images to your Blog entries (tutorials can be found here or here). It's simple and easy because there is a button for this (among other things) while you compose or edit a blog entry. You can even use it to create the HTML code to place somewhere else that does not have the powerful editing tools: just click on 'Edit HTML' to copy the code. But if you want to do it quickly in a reply or host your own set of smileys to add to your comments in Guestbooks or in your Welcome Message? Basically, you have to use this HTML command: <img src="Image_URL">where Image_URL is the address of the image on the Internet (it cannot be in your computer, it must be hosted online so others can see it). For instance, the blog icon above has this URL: http://images.multiply.com/multiply/icons/clean/24x24/journal.pngyou can then use this command to display it anywhere you want: <img src="http://images.multiply.com/multiply/icons/clean/24x24/journal.png">that will show this: You can even host your images here on Multiply in a private photo album (so no one else can see them) and easily get the code to embed them elsewhere. Here are some nice tutorials related to this subject that can be found in the New to Multiply group where you can find more details: http://multiplynewbie.multiply.com/journal/item/46/Hot-linking_images_inside_Multiplyhttp://multiplynewbie.multiply.com/journal/item/47/Hot-linking_inside_Multiply_-_Part_2http://multiplynewbie.multiply.com/journal/item/17/Pictures_in_the_text In the comments of the first one, there is even a tip about how to add an album artwork to your playlist (Music post) so it will display in the Type column if your Music page is set to Table View. Another tip: when using code from third party sites, be aware that they may include advertising or even malware with the image code. To avoid this, copy the code from their sites, paste it in a text editor and use only the part of the code that has the IMG tag. For example, this is a code from a known image hosting site: <a href=http://www.ZangyGraphics.com/picture.php?c=hi&n=271><img src=http://zangygraphics.com/hi/test2.gif border=0></a><br><a href="http://zangygraphics.com/imgs/logo.php"><img src="http://zangygraphics.com/imgs/zangylogo.jpg" border="0"></a>
But the only part you really need to display the image is the one in bold : <img src=http://zangygraphics.com/hi/test2.gif border=0>
PS: If it seems that you cannot add an image to a friend's Guestbook (or the other way around: if you want to prevent images in your Guestbook), probably you want to take a look at the Guestbook FAQ entry. For some reason you just can't seem to upload photos or images. You've tried each option, and still it does not want to work. This can happen along with another problem too - You cannot see see images in your album. Or you can see thumbnails, but can't open the images.
Can't seem to upload Audio or Video files either? This is usually a problem not related to Multiply, but still easily fixed. The following steps should be taken to insure that the problem is not with your computer first.1. TEMP FILES - Temporary internet files, cookies, and cache files need to be cleaned out periodically. Depending on the browser you use (IE, Firefox or other), at the top of your browser click on "tools", and then "options" or "internet options" or something similar according to your browser. That is where you will find temporary internet files, cookies and some cache files. Clear and delete them. Close your browser. And to further clean additional computer cache files, reboot. Temporary files not only bog down your computer, but your browsing ability as well, and that can include uploading and downloading, and proper updated viewing of pages and especially images. NOTE: This can affect all aspects of your Multiply experience including your ability to browse Multiply quickly, and other uploading and downloading features as well. Several free and simple software tools are available to clean these out either automatically, or with a "one click" on demand option also.2. PRIVACY TOOLS - Some security software that includes Privacy features, can affect your ability to see or work with images online. One example is McAfee's privacy feature has been known to do this, and you may need to disable that feature or where possible, adjust the settings. Even if you have never changed your settings, auto updates can change certain things without your knowlege.3. FIREWALL SETTINGS - Same thing can happen with auto updates. Something changes, even if you did not change it. There are too many Firewalls to go into each and every one of their settings, so don't just accept defaults. Explore your security software settings!

A picture is worth a thousand words. That's why a good blogging site will do it's best to make adding pictures a snap. On some blogging sites, though there's a way to easily add a photo, there's not much ability to place it where you want it. Or you may find that there's a limit to the number of pictures you're allowed to upload. So to get around that you may have gotten used to hotlinking in photos from other sites. Well hotlink no more. On Multiply, adding an image is a breeze and putting it where you want is even easier. When you're composing a blog post, you'll notice that just under the title is a series of icons. (There's a great article on composing a blog entry right here, if you're interested. It explains a bit about what some of the other icons do as well as gives a bit of info. about adding pictures.) Find the little symbol that looks like a small snapshot of mountain scenery: Click on it. You'll be taken to a new page. (Don't worry, your blog post is just fine, even if you can't see it at the moment.) Here, you'll be given three options: 1) upload a picture from your computer, 2) use a picture that you've already uploaded to an album on multiply, or 3) use a picture that's already online somewhere. Select whichever one is appropriate. Once you've chosen the photo, you'll be given the option of having it show up on the right side of the post, the left side of the post, or in the center. These are the only options for horizontal placement, but vertically you'll be able to put your photo wherever you want. Select the horizontal placement that you prefer and you'll be taken right back to the page you had been composing your blog, only now your picture will be showing up at the top of the page. If you don't want it to be at the top, drag it to wherever you do want it to be. (It'll stay at the horizontal designation that you already chose: right, left or center, even if you drag it to somewhere different than that.) The first picture that you uploaded will also be shown in thumbnail form on your home page if your blog is set up in summary view. But you can move that picture anywhere you'd like in the actual blog. When you add your second picture, it'll pop up at the very top of your blog. Don't sweat. All you have to do is grab it and move it to where you want it to be. If it displaced a previous image for awhile, that one will snap back in place once you've arranged the second one in it's own location. Notice that you can upload photos of different sizes and you're certainly not limited to only one image per blog post. Also, for larger images (like the photo of the Ren. Cen. in Detroit shown to the left) you can click on the photo to see it in a larger format. And if you really want to fit a photo into your blog entry in a place that you can't using the easy add photo feature, you can always fall back upon good old html. If you look back up at the little green portrait icon near the top of this post, you'll notice that it's neither to the right, the left, or the dead center. I added that image by clicking on the check box next to the words "Edit HTML" to the upper right of the composing area and added that image exactly where I wanted it using html. Multiply makes adding photos to your blogs easy and easily customizable. Enjoy!
- What are Faceboxes? Read this post from the official Multiply FAQ: http://multiply.com/info/faq/68- How do I remove a Facebox? If you were notified about a new 'Photo of me', someone added a facebox with your username. You can easily check who did it and remove the facebox doing this (replace YourUsername with your actual Multiply username): .Go to your Photos page (http:// YourUsername.multiply.com/photos) .At the bottom of the page, click on the link Review Faceboxes or use this generic link: http:// YourUsername.multiply.com/photos/edit-faceboxes Then you should be able to see a list of photos that have a facebox related to you and can delete the facebox clicking on the remove link beside the photo. Note that this only removes the Facebox info, i.e. the actual photo is not deleted. - How can I change who can add Faceboxes? At the bottom of your Phoots page or at the bottom of the page where you can remove the Faceboxes you can also change the settings about who can add them on your photos: just click on Change Who Can Add Faceboxes. You can also go to settings and then to Posting Options to do the same. - I've removed all Faceboxes but there are still some photos showing in my 'Photos of Me' page. How can I remove them? The pics showed in your Faceboxes page are the ones you've added to your Profile page. You can edit/remove them here (go to the Photos tab): http://multiply.com/setup/profilePS1: Don't worry if you see some pics from your profile page in the facebox list: the pics there have the same access level as the original ones. PS2: Of course, you can also click on a photo to go to the related post with the original pic. If you have any questions about this or other topics, please title accordingly and post >>> HERE

From the official Multiply blog. By now, you're most likely aware of how easy it is to add new Faceboxes to photos... just click a face to get started. However, as one user pointed out in a comment on our last entry, isn't this the way to view high-resolution versions of photos on Multiply? | There's your resolution... and your full-size link.
|
Well, in case you haven't noticed, there's always been a second way... which is now the way. While viewing an individual photo's page within an album, have a look right below the resized version of an image. You'll find, right below the image, the image title—which may just be the original filename (as is the case in the screenshot to the right) if you didn't enter a title—as well as the resolution of the original, full-size version of the file. Simply click the resolution below and you'll then be viewing the full-size version of the image. Click the image to add a new Facebox. That's all there is to it. Upadate1: - There is no resolution link anymore: when you browse a photo album you should see an yellow banner above the pic with a Zoom In link if the image has a higher resolution version. Just click on the link and the image will be displayed. If you have any questions about this or other topics, please title accordingly and post >>> HERE

Some times there is a problem uploading files to a new photo album and later you find out that you have more photo albums than you actually have. These 'ghost' albums can be easily removed if you add a pic to them. If you can find them in the list while uploading a new pic, do this: - upload any pic to an existing album
- open that album and edit it
- click on the Move photos to another album link that can be found below the pics
- move the newly uploaded pic to the 'ghost' album (some times it is listed as a blank name album)
- click on the OK button in the bottom of the page
The empty album should now be visible in your Photos page, so you can open the entry and delete it.
If you cannot move a photo to the empty album, try navigating to it from your Inbox or using the previous/next link on your current posts, or even changing the number of the album in your browser's location bar, for instance: http://Your_Username.multiply.com/photos/album/8
If you can open the post, then you should be able to use the delete link in order to delete it. If you the above don't help, contact Multiply's Customer Service (look for a link on the right rail >>>>) and give them as much info as you can so they can fix it for you.

Some times your connection to Multiply drops for some reason while you are uploading new content (photos, videos, music). Before creating a new post, look at the respective section in your page and look for a Draft post with the files that were already uploaded. Simply edit the post, add the remaining content and publish it. If you have problems uploading Music, try uploading them one at a time, to the same playlist, then publish it. Uploading smaller files (low bitrate) may also help. If you have problems uploading Photos, try using another uploader tool. For instance, if you've used the Java tool, try using the HTML one next time. You have some empty albums (with no pics and/or no name) and want to get rid of them? Simply upload a new photo, move it to the 'ghost' album and then delete it (it will be seen after a pic is added to it in your Photos page, maybe as a draft). Last but not least, you can try using another browser. If you haven't tried yet, use Firefox: it works best with Multiply and is more secure overall.
